Nobody’s land

by Lothar Kittstein (D) and Julia Holewińska (PL)
A fringe-writers production by fringe ensemble/phoenix5 and Teatr Powzechna (Warsaw)

A binational relationship between sex chat and marital stupidity, two women on the trail of their past and future, an old Nazi warrior and a young persecuted man – these are the German-Polish encounters in NIEMANDS LAND / ZIEMIA NICZYJA. Between everything, trapped in her own world, a young girl.

One of Poland’s hottest young authors at the moment, Julia Holewińska, and the Bonn playwright LotharKittstein, who is present on many German stages, have written a German-Polish play together for the fringe ensemble. In it, the present and the past overlap; in different – or possibly identical – places, stories and history intersect. The result is an exciting panopticon between guilt and violence, between control and liberation, between life in one and several worlds.
Niemands Land / Ziemia Niczyja” is performed by German and Polish actors, in Germany and Poland – an encounter and a play with identities within the German-Polish relationship.

A fringe-writers production by fringe ensemble/phoenix5 and Teatr Powszechny (Warsaw) in co-production with Theater im Pumpenhaus (Münster) and theaterimballsaal (Bonn). Supported by the Federal City of Bonn, the City of Münster, the Kunststiftung NRW, the NRW KULTURsekretariat, the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation.
