Lothar Kittstein studied German language and literature, history and philosophy. Since 2005 he has written for numerous major stages: Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspiel Frankfurt am Main, Theater Bonn, Theaterhaus Gessnerallee, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Trier, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Schauspiel Frankfurt am Main, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and others.
Lothar Kittstein has a long collaboration with Frank Heuel and fringe ensemble. In addition to pieces such as “Letzte Tage” (2007), “Hotel Kairo” (2008), “Finland” (2011 ), “Niemandsland” (2012) and “Völkerschlachten” (2012-14), Kittstein has also worked in completely open formats such as in the project “Basecamp TR /DE” (2017/18) or “Draußen vor den Türen / Outside our Doors”. For the International SprechChor Bonner he developed the texts for four projects.
Lothar Kittstein has received various awards for his works, including the Children’s Theater Prize of the Frankfurt Authors’ Foundation, an invitation to the Workshop Days at the Burgtheater in Vienna, and 1st prize at the Würth Literature Prize 2006.
