Julia Holewińska, born in 1983 in Warsaw, is a playwright, essayist and dramaturge. She is a graduate of the Faculty Knowledge of Theater at the Academy of Drama in Warsaw, and a current PhD student at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
She works as a dramaturge with the young generation of Polish directors. Among her plays are „Foreign Bodies“ (dir. Kuba Kowalski, Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk, Paweł Wodziński, Polish Radio, printed in Dialog) „12/70“ (dir. Thomas Sauerteig, Barcelona 2011), „Bubble Revolution“ (dir. Sławomir Batyra, Teatr Powszechny, Warsaw), „Vaudeville“ ( printed in Dialog), „Zina“ (stage reading at the Laboratory of Drama, Warsaw). Holewińska is the winner of the Gdynia Drama Award (2010) – the most prestigious Polish drama prize. This play was also in the final of Stückemarkt in Berlin (2012). She published articles in major Polish cultural magazines, received several scholarships and participated in international meetings with authors, among others the L’Obrador d’Estiu in Barcelona. Her plays have been translated into English, German, Russian, Spanish, Catalan and Italian. Holewińska lives and works in Warsaw.
